Linguistic Anthropology can be used to understand how to create better communication bots or to present data.

A Chatterbot is the name given for programs that attempt to simulate typed conversation and converse with a human [1]. One of the earliest Chatbots was Eliza, the virtual psychoanalyst, originally created by MIT scientist Joseph Weizembaum. Several versions available here along with backround information on the worlds most famous chatterbot.

Created in the early 1960's by MIT scientist Joseph Weizenbaum and named after Eliza Doolittle, its mission was to attempt to replicate the conversation between a psychoanalyst and a patient.
