The story of how Severe Tire Damage became the first band on the Internet, is an interesting one. Xerox Parc's Mark Weiser wanted to get Rolling Stones to be the first band on the Internet, to play the first live show online in the history of the Internet. The Rolling Stones finally agreed to do it. And Mark Weiser's band, Extreme Tire Damage, opened for them, making Severe Tire Damage the first band ever to perform live on the Internet. - Sheldon Renan.

Severe Tire Damage was the first band to perform live on the Internet.[1][2] On June 24, 1993, the band was playing a gig at Xerox PARC while elsewhere in the building, scientists were discussing new technology (the MBone) for broadcasting on the Internet using multicasting.
