This site is a wiki running the same software as Wikipedia runs on. The software is free and open source and can be installed on your own server or through a hosting company and have your own wiki for free (minus the cost of hosting and domain name registration). If you do decide to host your own wiki on your own domain, it will cost less than $100 per year to register a domain and hosting.

What does this site run on?

This site is a wiki running the same software as Wikipedia runs on. The software is free and open source and can be installed on your own server or through a hosting company and have your own wiki for free (minus the cost of hosting and domain name registration). If you do decide to host your own wiki on your own domain, it will cost less than $100 per year to register a domain and hosting.

After you install MediaWiki, you'll have to edit the LocalSettings.php file to prevent people from registering accounts. You can read more on the MediaWiki documentation pages.
